So. How do I start?

When I typed the introductory post, I was excited to actually get going, and I had a plan of the many things I was going to write about.

Sadly, the sheer amount of things I want to write about makes thinking about which subject should come first quite difficult. Do I write about capacitors so I can introduce them to the power rails near to IC's? Do I write about how a resistor is used to pull up or down a pin? Or do I assume that readers will be already know those things and just go into how the individual gates work?

I've decided to go with the assumption that a person looking at digital logic, and how that builds into a computer, will already know those basics, so I'm starting with how logic gates can be constructed from discrete components.

Software I'll be using for my diagrams is logisim and kicad and I'll probably be making circuit boards at some point with kicad. Both of these are excellent programmes and are free software licenced under the GNU GPL versions 2 and 3 respectively.
